BioReGen Firing Tests begin at Eccleshall

On 23rd April 2009 the BioReGen partners met at the Eccleshall Biomass Power Station to deliver fuels and to begin investigating the practical considerations of using fuels grown on brownfield land. The visit coincided with the annual visit from the UK Life Monitoring Team, Dr Lynne Barratt, who toured the 2.6 MWe dedicated biomass power station and observed the combustion of the Miscanthus and woodchip biomass fuel.

BioReGen: /bio-re-gen/
BioReGen is short for "Biomass, Remediation reGeneration: Re-using brownfield sites for renewable energy crops". It is a 4-5 year project funded by the Life III Environment Programme to investigate whether brownfield sites can be used to grow plants for fuel (energy crops).
